Consulting Services

    • Regulatory Requirements: Responsible for the day-to-day operations of maintaining the legal lake levels for Houghton Lake and Lake St. Helen as established under provisions of Part 307, Inland Lakes Levels, of the Natural Resources and Environment Protection (NREPA), PA 451 of 1994, as amended (MCL 324.30701-324.30722).

    • Maintenance and Inspections: Conducting regular inspections of LLCSs to assess their structural integrity, functionality, and safety, and coordinating maintenance and repair activities as needed.

    • Water Flow Management: Managing and controlling the release of water through LLCSs, including adjustments to water levels, flow rates, and gates to meet water management objectives, such as water conservation.

    • Advisement: Make recommendations to the Board of Commissioners regarding all lake level control structures and the legal lake levels.

    • Project Oversight: Oversee all projects that occur on the lake level control structures, and maintain logs and records of all maintenance and projects.

    • Construction Observation and Project Management: Oversee projects from start to finish. Track quantities, report and ensure specification compliance.

      • Fall 2021 - Runway 10/28 & Taxiway Pavement, Lighting Signage Rehabilitation, New Vault & Generator - Delta County Airport (ESC)

      • Spring 2021 - Rehabilitate Taxiway A & E, Pavement, Lighting and Signage Ford Airport (IMT)

    • Onsite Project Management: Oversee entirety of project. Work with contractor during to solve unforeseen problems. Track quantities, pay items and create daily reports for progress and work completed.

    • Specification and Contract Compliance: Ensuring that the inspected structures or projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations and building codes, addressing any violations or non-compliance issues.

    • Quality Control and Assurance: LVL 1 Concrete testing, Cylinder and Beam strength testing. Nuclear Guage Density testing. Lab and in field proctors, including Michigan Cone. Sieve analysis. HMA - QA/QC certified technicians.

    • Environmental Compliance: Work with property owner to navigate EGLE permitting for projects. Offer certified Storm Water Operators for projects. Ensure compliance with all EGLE and MDNR requirements.

    • Site Assessment and Data Collection: Collecting data on the geological and hydrological characteristics of the site, including subsurface soil properties, aquifer conditions, and water table depths.

    • Seepage Analysis: Performing seepage analyses to evaluate potential seepage issues, such as through embankments, dams, or excavation sites, and assessing the risks to nearby structures and the environment.

    • Groundwater Modeling: Developing groundwater flow models using software and computer simulations to predict and manage groundwater movement and its effects on the site.

    • Mitigation Design: Designing and implementing seepage control and groundwater management solutions, which may include the construction of barriers, drainage systems, or dewatering measures.

    • Monitoring and Reporting: Implementing groundwater monitoring programs to track changes in water levels, quality, and flow rates, and providing regular reports on the effectiveness of mitigation measures and adherence to regulatory requirements.
